This initiative seeks to advance approaches to biomaterial construction with an exhibition on Grounds. The construction industry has been slow to adapt as climates shift, overextended supply chains threaten traditional building materials, and material life cycles come into question. New tools such as automation and computation facilitate new approaches to these concerns. Hosted by the School of Architecture and reaching across the university and beyond, this exhibition will engage these tools and advance biomaterial construction through the production of material prototypes by student teams working with external experts and place this work in dialogue with ongoing work by UVa scholars.
