Our team will be traveling to Bolivia to train teachers in implementing Ayllu Yanapay, a culturally adapted parent-mediated autism intervention. The intervention focuses on teaching caregivers strategies for responding to challenging behaviors and promoting communication in their autistic child. Ayllu Yanapay also promotes mental health in caregivers by providing relaxation strategies and wellbeing resources. The training will take place in one city in Bolivia over five days using direct instruction and guided practice. Teachers will then implement the caregiver training program with parents of autistic children in their communities.
