Eren Jaye’s doctoral project considers theatres of the region from both a folkloric and ecological perspective, guided by the premise that these two are intrinsically intertwined. With a GGR grant, Eren will be traveling to investigate the Irma Goldstraw Collection at the Fales Library of New York University which comprises a vast and essential collection of papers regarding the time of Derek Walcott, a Saint Lucian native, as the director of the Trinidad Theatre Workshop (1959-1971), a troupe he founded with his twin brother, Roderick Walcott.
