My project explores Martin Luther King Jr’s highly publicized visit to both East and West Berlin. King arrived in September 1964, only a few months after the passage of the Civil Rights Act and just before he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

This project investigates the construct of contemporary Chinese architecture in exhibitionary representations under hegemonic transnational cultural exchange by looking into a series of German exhibitions on contemporary Chinese architects from 2001 onwards.

My work focuses on the transnational peace movement during the last decade of the Cold War.

This ethnographic project investigates the worldbuilding practices of sustainable finance professionals in Germany and the United States vis-à-vis their legal and occupational constraints.

The project examines portraits of the Ottonian rulers Henry II and Kunigunde (r. 1002-1024) featured in manuscripts, altar frontals, and other liturgical implements within their early-eleventh-century cathedral treasury contexts.

Spearheaded by the Center for German Studies and in collaboration with fifteen units at UVa, this year-long initiative will bring some of the top scholars in the field of migration and refugee studies to Grounds for a speaker series and concluding conference.

An interdisciplinary conference on the global root causes and implications of the current refugee crisis in Europe.
