Concrete is one of the most important materials in modern civilization but its production generates 8% of global CO2 emissions so there is growing urgency to develop alternative low-carbon alternatives.

My project focuses on analyzing indigenous subjecthood in the Spanish Empire through examination of the Tehuantepec rebellion of 1660-1661.

With GGR support, I plan to investigate nineteenth-century Iberian and Latin American periodicals at the Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE).

The project takes the Spanish Civil War as a site of confluence between Spain’s internal history, its imperial past in Latin America and Africa, Black international anti-imperialism, and Cuban communism, among other socio-historical configurations.

My dissertation focuses on the Castilian translation of the Lapidario (or Lapidary), a manuscript commissioned by King Alfonso the Wise.

Archival investigation at Barcelona’s Historical Archive and the General Protocols Archive from 16th of May to 14th June, 2022, would help me tracing the cultural and economic networks that interlace in the documents sent and written through the last half of the 19th Century including transatlantic and transpacific Barcelona’s connection.

As a PhD student in the Department of Spanish, my research focuses on literary engagements with nationalism, populism, and terrorism in the emerging field of Basque Studies.

My dissertation “Sufrir, salir, sobrevivir: Cultural Responses to the 2008 Crisis in Spain” examines questions of migration, poverty, economics, and sociology, as depicted through culture.

My dissertation focuses on cultural production in the aftermath of the global 2008 social and financial crisis in Spain.
