Aroha: Compassionate End of Life Care for Māori Elders
Spring 2025 CG Recipient
Research by:
The Māori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, expressed grave concerns about inequity of access, experiences, and outcomes in palliative care for Māori living with a life-limiting illness and their whanau (extended family or community). The care delivered is not consistent with the Māori culture, customs and practices related to death and dying. The purpose of the proposed study is to engage Māori older adults and their communities in a 3-phase exploration of compassionate end of life care. Improving care for the Māori can inform end of life care for all.
