This project will partner a UVA global health student with a Cambodian community mental health team to develop a research project focused on family and community supports for people with severe mental illness in Cambodia. Working closely with the faculty lead, the student will undertake guided field visits and facilitate a research capacity building and protocol co-creation workshop for a team of clinical psychologists and graduate students in Phnom Penh. Through ongoing partnership, the student will gain a deep understanding of the Cambodian mental health service a context and issues in global mental health research partnerships.
