A Tale of Uneven Ground: The Role of System Vulnerability in Education Inequality in Dhaka
The project "A Tale of Uneven Ground" explores education inequality across three socio-economic neighborhoods in Dhaka. Using SHLC 2023 survey data, focus groups, and secondary sources, it reveals how systemic vulnerabilities—not community deficits—drive disparities in access to quality education. The study highlights the intergenerational impact of these inequalities and calls for targeted reforms, including public school expansion, financial aid, and community accountability. The research will be presented at the 2025 International Conference on Urban Affairs at Vancouver, BC, Canada, with Spring’25 Graduate Global Research grant supporting travel and accommodation for the event.
