The Digital Collection Launch of the Jamaica Gaily News took place on Nov 20, 2020. The Jamaica Gaily News was the publication of the Gay Freedom Movement in Jamaica, the first gay activist organization in the anglophone Caribbean. The Gaily News ran from 1977-1984 and the entire collection is now available on the Digital Library of the Caribbean at https://dloc.com/icirngfm. At the launch of this collection, a panel of Jamaicans involved in gay activism situated the Gaily News in the context of their lived experiences, the politics of gender and sexuality in late twentieth-century Jamaica, and the global movements for gay liberation in which they were involved.
