I am presenting my research, "Environmental Restorative Justice and Cultural Nuances in Latin America," at the prestigious ACSP 2024 Conference in Seattle. As part of my doctoral work, this study applies a systematic literature review to explore how colonial histories, and cultural identities shape environmental restorative justice efforts in post-disaster contexts. Through thematic analysis, I identified key challenges: cultural barriers, unequal access to decision-making, historical exploitation, and ethical concerns in governance. These findings highlight persistent injustices marginalized communities face, emphasizing the need for culturally sensitive frameworks in disaster recovery. The conference will provide critical feedback and collaborative opportunities for advancing this impactful research.
