Skin in the Game: Site Solidarity as Landscape Practice

Spring 2023 GGR Recipient

Daniel Wright (Architecture)

Deep and thick sections of landscape representation make materials, ecology, and cultural histories visible. But the visible gives primacy to sight, so our sensory entanglements with place remain hidden. As part of participation in the Wright-Ingram Field Stations program in Iceland, I will create a series of synthetic sections overlapping qualitative sensory experiences of place with the cultural and geologic context provided through the course. Drawings will be paired with other sensory explorations and field notes to develop synthetic multi-sensory representations of site richness.
