Global Ecoacoustics Project

Fall 2016 Grant Recipient

Matthew Burtner (Music) The Global Ecoacoustics Project is a collaborative global initiative between the University of Virginia, and institutions in Australia, Colorado and Alaska. A cohort of universities and museums have joined together to imagine a year-long pilot initiative that will span the northern and southern hemispheres, and the South Pacific to the Atlantic -- a global project that brings together musicians, artists, curators and scientists through the interdisciplinary practice of ecoacoustics. Ecoacoustics arose independently in the sciences and in music, and this initiative seeks to combine and bridge disciplines in innovative ways.
